Controlling a Omnibot/2000 with an Atari 800?

How hard would it be to make a device that would connect to an Atari 800 computer allowing the computer to control the robot with the needed freqs. ?

I know the program itself would probably be pretty easy permitting you could re-create the tones right with an external hardware RF board controlled by the Atari.

It'd be cool to make a board or boards that could be plugged into the 9pin port of an 800 and then you could control a Robie Sr, Omnibot, 2000 and Hearoid all at the same time ;)
